Career
Toby was born and raised in Jacksonville, Texas. After experiencing a game winning field goal during his sophomore year of high school, Toby was hooked! He finished his high school career with All-District, All-East Texas, and All-State Honors as a field goal kicker/punter.
Toby attended the University of North Texas where he was a four year starter as punter. He finished his senior year as an All-Conference and AP All-American while handling the punting and kickoff duties. He was inducted into the University of North Texas Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003.
He began his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys in 1997 as a punter/kickoff specialist. His contribution was a big reason why the Cowboys were voted as having the number one ranked Special Teams unit in the NFL two out of his first three seasons as a Cowboy. After three years in Dallas, free agency landed him in New Orleans where he was part of the first playoff victory in Saints history. Toby then returned to Dallas for the 2003 season before finishing his career with the New York Jets in 2004. After 8 seasons in the NFL, Toby punted 629 times for an average of 41.3 yards per punt.
